SALWA History

Salwa food co. was founded in 1994, having its first manufacturing in Ramallah Palestine, as in initiative from ambitious businessmen. The company aims to meet the local market demand with different meat products. And has become one of the major meat manufacturing companies in Palestine, through the high quality and tasty of their products to satisfy the customers pleasure.

The policy of SALWA is reflected in providing the consumer with healthy refrigerated Good meat products with high quality, safety and appropriated prices.

The company represented by the general manager and the board of directors guarantee the development of there employees, supervisors and managers and training them to get the knowledge about the system. The top management of SALWA CO. pledges to practice the low and the roles of food safety in ISO 22000 and all the local roles of food safety and quality of the Palestinian quality mark system PS and to get coordinated and communicated with the local organizations who related to that. The top management of SALWA CO. guarantees the financial and mental support for the development of food safety policy in the company by using modern methods to control and be free of the notifications.The top management pledge connecting the investor with the suppliers to get GOOD, HIGH QUALITY and HEALTHY raw materials, this helps to produce high quality products.

The refrigerated meat industry considered as manufacturing industry therefore should use modern methods to make the raw meat in a final, good, free of notifications, and free of GENETIC MODIFIED COMPONENTS.

The company represented by the quality assurance department guarantee to follow up and control the FOOD SAFETY for there products in the markets, so the consumer can get healthy and safe products.

Objectives food safety:

* The top management through the quality assurance department pledges that there products DON’T CONTAIN ANY SALMONELLA AND LISTERIA MICROORGANISM.

* The top management through the quality department pledges that there products contain the Palestinian ALLOWED LIMIT OF SODIUM NITRITE (MF1-2006).

* The top management through the quality assurance department guarantees that there products don’t have any PHYSICAL NOTIFICATIONS.

On The Outer Scale:

The company (Salwa Mortadella) became the Ambassador of the Palestinian meat industry sharing in many expositions in countries like –Jordan –Emirate –Iraq- Yaman – Egypt.

Regarding exporting a total of 10% of company’s production is exported to Jordan, preparing know to export to Saudi Arabia and Egypt because of its economy & baying strength.

On The Inner Scale

Salwa Mortadella takes the impression & appreciation of the local customer because it was able to establish high competition in taste, smell, texture, and packing since the meat sector covers more than 90% of local market scale (according to Food Industry Association) and that is the highest percent in markets because of:

1.     The local customer trust in Salwa products regarding taste, and filling in nylon tubes which means any other product for the company will have the same golden chance in the market.

2.     Packing and filling Mortadella in cans gives the product longer shelf life reaches 24 months without the need of continues refrigeration while nylon filled products needs continues refrigeration and just 3 months expiry date.

3.     The ease of handling and preparing cans for consumption.

4.     The Public sector like hospitals; military centers need for Caned Mortadella.

5.     The presence Islamic minorities in foreign countries that look for HALLAH products – and since the company is a HACCP certified that ease the intolerance to the world trade.

6.     Since the caned Mortadella present in the market is imported from outer sources it’s a good chance to invest in a caning line for Salwa Company to compete in prices.
 

7.     Salwa Company undergoes the Palestinian investment law in which has a great deal in developing, growth of company in competition in the local market, for that the caning line will undergo through the same law for improving investments (which will have a great deal for succeeding the project).

Quality Department:

Quality department is the key element in the company for its role in:

Strict and permanent control from quality team on stages of meat processing to be conformable with the local and global standards.

So there are many fields of control as follow:

1- Inspection the raw material which used in production line.

2- Monitoring application of approved specifications  and standards as follow:

- Product specifications.

- Product composition.

- Product shelf life.

- Product inspection in the laboratory.

3- To ensure the cleanliness and appropriateness of all the company's facilities.

4- Control the labor.

5- Follow up the quality systems in the company.

The company characterized by application the global quality systems “ISO22000”, which work on follow-up the management of food safety in all company’s facilities, so that there are tow methods to control and update this system includes:

1- Internal audit, by people with experience and sufficient knowledge.

2- External audit, by approved global institution, checking the application of food safety procedures in the company.

Also salwa Food Company as basic rule applied the “HACCP” system to control and monitor and then update all chemical, physical, and biological hazards of critical control points through production steps, to produce in the final “safety meat product for human”.

There are strong and close relationship between the company represented by quality control assurance department and the Palestinian universities with Training programs for students in all departments of the company.
